Ósemka get the New Year off to a fine start with a convincing win in just under an hour. After a long Xmas break and only one training session before the match, it was always going to be a test of nerves and stamina, but the guys came up trumps. At 13-9 up in the third set, the ‘old bill’ were in danger of not even getting into double figures as Ósemka raced on to a 23-9 lead, eventually wining the set and match to 13 points. A good result which should give the team confidence in search of a high finish in the league table.

A very hard fought victory against a defensively well organised young team. Ósemka started very well dominating the first 2 sets however, a spirited fightback from the visitors along with a lapse in concentration squared the match at 2-2 with Ósemka failing to take the match in the fourth set, losing several matchpoints. The decisive 5th set swung in Osemka's favour, as they managed to step up a gear and comfortably dominate throughout thanks to some big hitting from Steffen.

Ósemka continue the year unbeaten with another fine performance after a very hard fought and exhausting match the previous week. This weeks game saw Ósemka take the first set and then found themselves struggling in the second, with Powerball leveling the match at 1-1. A tactical change of jobs on court then allowed Ósemka to power their way through the next two sets without turning back. Some good defensive play by the opposition in back court, made Ósemka work for the victory, which ultimately was never in doubt.

Ósemka power their way to another victory, leaving themselves one could argue, well prepared to take on the league leaders, Polonia. The match against Lionhearts gave the team a chance to use one of the junior players as a libero, and young Julek proved his worth playing this role in the third set. The team played well together and some good setting allowed the team to produce some great hitting. The opposition were good in back court but never really threatened enough in the attack to cause Ósemka any major problems. The clash with Polonia should be interesting........

Ósemka were fired up for this match, on the back of a run of 4 wins on the trot. The team gave a good performance and showed they can fight by winning the second set by 30-28 points. Unfortunately, Ósemka could not sustain the performance of that ser, and eventually lost the match but not without a fight.

Ósemka came to this match after a hard fight against the league leaders and were fired up to get back to winning ways. The score line suggests a comfortable victory though the team will have to work much harder with games coming up against stronger opposition.

The match against Inter before Xmas was a great win for Ósemka and the team were hoping for a repeat performance. Some big hitting from Inter showed weaknesses in Ósemka’s block and although the team managed to win one set, it was not to be.
